Since the mention of Port Cyprium Marina less than a couple of years ago, it has become one of the most talked about subjects in and around North Cyprus, with those who have or are thinking of buying a property, tourists, and of course for keen sailors.

For those who do not know the process procedure when constructing and planning something on this scale within Northern Cyprus, it is very involved to say the least! Not to mention the laid back lifestyle being very Yavas Yavas (Slowly Slowly), and thus in turn can hold back the development and construction. This does not mean of course that Port Cyprium Marina is not going to start (despite rumours and "blogs" by those who do not have the correct details!).

On the subject of what may be read on the "blog" websites and heard from rumours, you may be interested to know that:

• Port Cyprium Marina is the only forthcoming planned marina in the Kyrenia/ Girne area.
• Port Cyprium Marina is the only forthcoming marina in the Kyrenia/ Girne area that has been granted planning permission.
• Developers of Port Cyprium Marina have been informed by the Government that they may start construction.

However, there are a couple of reasons why construction has not started as yet, which is due to the Antiquities Department requesting that the breakwater for the marina be moved. This in turn has meant that new architectural and technical plans have to be re-drawn and re-submitted not only to the Antiquities Department, but to the various other authorities also. This is currently in process.

The Director or Port Cyprium Marina is very meticulous in the way that they work, and even though told that they may start construction, this will not happen until everything is in place. Once construction commences it is estimated that completion will be within 18 months, and will even be able to start mooring

In the meantime all the access roads leading to Port Cyprium Marina are underway in preparation for the workers and machinery, as are the villas for Port Cyprium Village overlooking the marina.
